About the event
We are pleased to invite you to the next GASA Oceania Chapter Virtual Meet-Up, hosted by Andrea Leask, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Netsafe NZ on 6th May 2025.
This interactive session will bring together professionals, advocates, and industry leaders from across Oceania to explore the growing threat of scam compounds—criminal enterprises that exploit vulnerable individuals and defraud consumers globally.
Two Expert Presentations
The event will feature insights from internationally respected experts working to combat scam compounds and related crimes.
Dr. Joshua James – Regional Counter-Cybercrime Advisor, Southeast Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
Dr. James will share insights into the transnational nature of scam compounds and law enforcement efforts to dismantle them.
David Braga – CEO, International Justice Mission (IJM) Australia
David will speak about IJM’s frontline work addressing forced criminality in scam operations and the broader fight against modern slavery.
Together, Joshua and David will provide a compelling look at the intersection of cybercrime, human trafficking, and consumer protection—and how we can respond collectively to this urgent and evolving threat.
Engage in Collaborative Discussions
This meet-up provides an opportunity to connect with experts, gain valuable insights, and contribute to discussions on protecting communities from the devastating impacts of scam compounds.
